PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD HAS A BOTTLE OF WATER EVERY DAY AT SCHOOL.
Discipline Plan
The purpose of a discipline plan is to establish and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning for all students. It is my belief that students have a right to an education in an environment that makes them feel safe; is free from distractions and bullying. I make sure each student is aware of consequences for inappropriate behavior. If students choose to break rules or not follow procedures, I will address the student using the sequence of actions below. Some steps may be skipped depending on the severity of the offense.
Order of Consequences
- Nonverbal cues/verbal warning
- 2nd Warning
- Student conference with silent snack
- Silent lunch with parent contact
- Parent conference request (with administration)
- Office Referral
Daily Behavior Card Chart:
Students will start on green with each teacher, each day. This gives them a chance to self-correct their behavior throughout the day. Students will remain on green for consequences #1 and #2. They will move their card to yellow for consequence #3. They will move their card to orange for consequences #4 & #5. When a student moves his/her card to red, they are on consequence #6. Cards are moved to green the following day. Consequences #4, #5, & #6 will be documented in their graded papers folder for parents to sign. Teachers will also keep a record of conduct in their grade book.
What's happening in Reading Room 509 this week...
We are continuing our skills we started last week. We will have tests this Thursday so we can do some fun activities on Friday.
I have purchased a new spelling program called spellingstars.com. Students were able to practice on it for a week and
decided they liked it. We will still have access to spellingcity.com as well.
We will continue editing paragraphs. Students will have a paragraph to copy and make corrections to
each day. If it is not completed during class, students should complete it for homework so it can be checked together
the following day.
When we return from the Thanksgiving break, I will be giving each student the oral reading fluency check. Please make
your child is reading aloud at home for practice.

B I O G R A P H Y
This is my 26th year in the classroom and I have loved every minute of it! I have experience teaching 1st, 3rd, 5th & 6th grades, in private and public schools. I am from Prattville and graduated from PHS in 1986. I have a husband, 4 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, and 5 grandchildren. I enjoy reading, shopping, puzzles, CFA , Sweet Tea, Southern Bells Nutrition, and spending time with my family.
I believe in challenging students to reach their highest potential in a positive, nurturing environment. I am looking forward to a fabulous year working with you and your child!
